The HDMI Micro Type D connector was introduced with HDMI v1.4.It retains the 19 pins used in the standard Type A connector but its size is reduced to 2.8mm x 6.4mm.The Micro connector is used on mobile phones and other similar portable devices where the slimmer profile of the device requires smaller sockets.The other end of the cable has a standard HDMI Type A Male plug for connecting to any device with a standard HDMI Type A socket. HDMI leads provide both High Definition video and multi-channel audio connection between digital High Definition displays, digital AV sources and HDMI switch devices. This cable type offers the same basic performance as Standard HDMI Cable, it also benefits from having a dedicated data channel, known as the HDMI Ethernet Channel, for device networking.The HDMI Ethernet Channel functionality is only available if both linked devices are HDMI Ethernet Channel (HEC) devices.
